Authorities in Peru have rescued the last of hundreds of travelers who had been stranded by flooding in a town near one of South America’s most popular tourist destinations, a government official said Friday.

The apparently strangled bodies of two women who worked for a weekly newsmagazine in Mexico City were found Thursday morning in a suburb south of the city, officials said.

The mother of three Mexicans jailed in Malaysia for allegedly manufacturing drugs is pleading for authorities to intervene in their case. They face death by hanging if convicted.

Alejandro Robaina, considered a legend among Cuban tobacco growers, died Saturday, according to Cuban cigar company Habanos S.A., which produced cigars named for him.
